H2OiONX Review

H2OiONX was developed by the supplement company VetiONX. They claim that tap water is full of toxins and industrial chemicals, which is definitely true. Our tap water is full of natural toxins and even some toxins are added like chlorine and fluoride. They then go on to say that bottled water is probably even less safe because of less stringent requirements. They then claim that the only way to reverse the toxic damage from all the things in the water is to add H2OiONX, a blend of compounds that neutralize the effects, reduces damage, and even helps remove them from the body.

Unfortunately, we cannot actually look at the exact compounds added to H2OiONX to see how it works because it is a secret proprietary blend. Vetionx did studies on pet dogs to see how H2OiONX worked on them. After 6 months, researchers studied the differences in effects between dogs who drank H2OiONX and those who didn’t. They found that the H2OiONX group had more energy and were showing signs of better health. They also found it helped against free radical damage to pancreatic islet B cells. This is thought to be the cause for diabetes. Pet owners themselves who used H2OiONX, have also reported ancedotally an improvement in their dogs energy.

VetiONX provides a 90 day money back guarantee on H2Oionx. This is among the only 4 products they sale because they thoroughly research each product and only bring forth products they believe in. You can only buy H2OiONX directly through Vetionx.

MSM for Dogs

MSM (Methylsulfonylmethane) is commonly used for dogs in joint care supplements. MSM is often used in conjunction with Glucosamine, to help treat and prevent arthritis and hip dysplasia for dogs. MSM is also in most joint care supplements for humans. MSM has a lot of research suggesting it works well. There is a lot of ancedotal evidence by health experts, who have given MSM to people with arthritis and it reduced their pain and stiffness.

MSM Science

There is many double blind placebo studies backing up MSM working to reduce arthritis pain. MSM doesn’t seem to do much for reducing inflammation or repairing joints. It is more for reducing arthritis pain. That is why it is best to use MSM in conjunction with Glucosamine. The best joint care supplements should contain Glucosamine with MSM because Glucosamine is the most powerful joint care ingredient out there I believe. Glucosamine converts to the compound that constitutes most of the structure of the joint and it is proven to reduce joint inflammation. Reducing inflammation and repairing the joint is getting at the root cause of arthritis. Arthritis is usually caused by the misdirection of inflammation at the joints causing pain and continuous damage. Therefore, it is suggested to be taken along with Glucosamine and other joint health ingredients like MSM, Chondroitin, Boron, Vitamin C, Magnesium, Calcium, etc to work synergistically for better results.

Best MSM Supplement for dogs

I have had great results on our dog using Flexpet. It is a MSM based supplement made for dogs. Flex Pet also contains high doses of Glucosamine and a few other great ingredients including their proprietary ingredient CM8, which I haven’t seen in any other joint supplement.

Cosequin Review

Cosequin is a supplement to help alleviate arthritis pain and joint problems in Dogs, Cats, and other pets. Cosequin is one of the hottest selling supplements for dog’s because many dog’s suffer from joint problems and it is a very effective supplement.

Cosequin DS (Double strength) for dogs ingredients are: Glucosamine (500mg), Sodium Chondroitin Sulfate (400mg), Ascorbate (33mg), and Manganese (5mg). If you already have a lot of knowledge like me in supplements, you will know how important Glucosamine and Chondroitin Sulfate are in helping with joint problems. Many humans already take that exact supplement combination together for helping their own joint problems. Glucosamine and Chondroitin have a wide range of research supporting their ability to help alleviate and even reverse joint problems and pain. Cosequin can be useful for arthritis pain and even hip displasia, a common hip problem seen in large dog breeds.

When Glucosamine and Chondroitin are taken together, like in Cosequin, they have a much more significant synergistic effect according to research. According to research it takes a few weeks for Glucosamine and Chondroitin to take a significant effect, so be patient and don’t expect the results immediately. You can purchase Cosequin DS at EntirelyPets.com, which is a store I recommend.

Another very effective joint supplement for pets you might be interested in trying at a lower price, is called Arthroionx. Arthroionx contains a more comprehensive range of effective joint products than Cosequin. I have personally tried ArthroIonx on my dogs and found it very effective. They also have a moneyback guarantee for 90 days, allowing you to try the product risk free. You can read my Arthroionx review for more information.

Glucosamine for Dogs

Glucosamine is a common ingredient in joint supplements for dogs. Glucosamine is used for healing arthritis and hip dysplasia in dogs. Glucosamine is also in joint supplements for humans too. The reason why Glucosamine is popular for dogs and humans is because it has so much evidence showing how well it works. Glucosamine is the one ingredient that every supplement for treating dog arthritis and hip dysplasia must contain. Glucosamine is the only natural ingredient that can work significantly when taken by itself. Most joint supplements also contain other ingredients besides Glucosamine, that work well in conjunction for even better results.

Glucosamine Science

Joint Cartilage is made up mainly of compounds called glycosaminoglycans. Glucosamine actually can convert in the body to glycosaminoglycans. According to studies, when taking Glucosamine orally, it does increase levels in the body. Therefore Glucosamine can be taken in oral form and does indeed “find it’s way” to the joint. Studies further show that Glucosamine actually does build it back up again if it’s been damaged from arthritis. Glucosamine not only plays a structural role on cartilage, but research shows it reduces inflammation at the joints. Arthritis actually means inflammation of the joints. Reducing inflammation in the joint area can reduce the pain and prevent further damage at the joints. Since Glucosamine can actually convert to the cartilage and reduce inflammation, it should help reverse a dog’s arthritis and hip dysplasia. Studies indicate that it takes a few weeks for Glucosamine to kick in.

Best Glucosamine Supplements For Dogs

There are many Glucosamine based joint supplement brands on the market for dogs. I’ve had great experience with both Arthro-ionx and Flexpet. They both have Glucosamine and in addition, various other proven ingredients like Chondroitin, MSM, Boron, Magnesium, Calcium, CM8, Vitamin C, etc. A good glucosamine supplement for dogs should have more than Glucosamine. When you stack together ingredients you get a better synergistic effect than simply taking more of the same ingredient. Some ingredients are added to work to reduce arthritic pain and others work on different parts of the joint area to give a synergistic effect.

Joint Max for Dogs

Joint Max for Dogs is a joint supplement to heal or prevent joint degeneration from arthritis or dog hip dysplasia. In most cases you don’t need to ask your vet for a prescription or worry about expensive and painful surgery because supplements usually work just as well. I haven’t personally used Joint max, but the ingredients are very similiar to some other joint supplements I have used on my dogs. I’ve done a lot of my own research on joint supplement ingredients and based on my own personal experiences, I know which ones contain ingredients that should work. The ingredients in Joint max are even used in joint supplements for humans because they work.

Joint max main ingredients are Glucosamine HCI, Chondroitin Sulfate, Vitamin C, Manganese, and cysteine. The highest ingredient is the Glucosamine in a dose of 530mg per pill in the double strength formula. Glucosamine is the most important ingredient every single joint supplement should have. Glucosamine has the most studies backing up the claims. It not only converts to the compound that makes up joint cartilage, but it can help heal arthritis by reducing inflammation. Inflammation and the resulting damage to the joints is the root cause of arthritis. Glucosamine can help reverse some of the damage caused at the joints because it converts to glycoaminoglycans in the body. Glycoaminoglycans make up the majority of the joint cartilage structure. The second highest ingredient concentration in Joint max is Chondroitin. Most experts believe that chondroitin and Glucosamine should be taken together for the best benefits. Chondroitin is a pretty important joint supplement. The other ingredients liek manganese and vitamin c, play a supportive role in joint health, but the Glucosamine and Chondroitin is the most important.

You can buy Joint Max for dogs at EntirelyPets.com. At checkout use coupon code JOINTMAX5 to save $5 off any Joint Max purchase at EntirelyPets.com. Joint Max also has a formula specifically for cats.

DiaIonX Review

Diabetes is a serious disease effecting humans and dogs and other pet animals. DiaIonX is a natural glucose lowering supplement available by the innovative company Vetionx. If your pet dog is borderline diabetic, then this may help, since it is claimed to help lower glucose levels. Diabetes is when your body loses tolerance to insulin, causing excessively high levels of glucose to stay in the blood. This excessive glucose can lead to all sorts of health problems. Normally, a person shuttles a lot of that excess glucose into their cells by secreting insulin. However, diabetics because of their insulin desensitivity, wind up having too much glucose in their blood to sit around and do damage. Thats why people with diabetes or borderline diabetes get thirsty and urinate a lot because your body is trying to flush out the excess glucose.

Now Let’s look at some of the ingredients of DiaIonX to see what it contains. Calcium, Potassium Gluconate, Chromium Picolinate, and Zinc (Amino Chelate). Chromium picolinate has long been known to help with insulin sensitivity and is recommended supplement for borderline diabetics. A lot of people are deficient in Chromium because it is hard to absorb, but Chromium Picolinate is the easiest absorbed form. Chromium helps create the growth factor called Glucose Tolerance Factor. This factor helps insulin bind to the receptors, to increase sensitivity. Many studies have shown chromium having a beneficial effect on diabetic rats including American Society for Nutrition J. Nutr. 136:415-420, February 2006 and The American Society for Nutritional Sciences J. Nutr. 132:1107-1114, 2002. This abstract published in Journal of the American College of Nutrition, Vol 16, Issue 5 404-410 pointed out the large body of evidence supporting chromium in helping diabetes. They also say that dosage and chromium form is important, citing a chinese study where the 500mg 2 times a day chromium picolinate group had results after 4 months, whereas the 100mg 2 times a day group had little. You can’t take too high of doses of chromium picolinate because there is side effects at the very high levels.

Vetionx adds zinc to DiaIonX because it used by enyzmes that are important in insulin binding and buildup. They also claim that zinc supplementation research has shown lower insuline levels with the same glucose levels, thereby proving zinc increases insulin sensitivity. I looked up some studies myself and found some supporting zinc’s role in glucose. A study published in Biochem Biophys Res Commun. 2006 Dec 8;351(1):165-70. Epub 2006 Oct 11. showed an improvement on rat’s type 2 diabetes and metabolic syndromes, from zinc complex use after 4 weeks. A study published in Dustri, Deisenhofen, ALLEMAGNE (1994) (Revue) by the Department of Biochemistry, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, Istanbul University, Istanbul, TURQUIE showed that high doses of zinc decreased serum glucose levels after 22 days on 100 male rats. Interesting enough, I found a study published in Biol Trace Elem Res. 1991 Feb;28(2):123-33. that showed acute doses of zinc did not change glucose metabolism in humans like it did with animals in studies. A study published in J Trace Elem Med Biol. 2007;21(2):113-9. Epub 2007 Mar 6 showed that rats fed with zinc plus high fructose diet, had higher insulin sensitivy compared to high fructose diet without the zinc. From my research on zinc on other processes in the body, it also plays a crucial role in many other complex factors dealing with cells and glucose metabolism. You do not want to take zinc excessively though, as it can cause side effects, as pointed out in a study published in Indian J Exp Biol. 2006 Sep;44(9):705-18. It showed excessive zinc for 6 months led to symptoms of metabolic syndrome-x. The potassium is added to DiaIonx for energy for ATP (Which is the basic energy “currency” in cells). Not sure exactly how that has to do with insulin sensitivity and glucose, but it probably just helps make sure all the enzymes in the body are working at optimum.

Overall, DiaIonx seems like it could help because the Chromium and Zinc in DiaIonx, have extensive research to indicate they help with glucose metabolism and insulin sensitivity. You can only buy DiaIonX directly through Vetionx. They offer a 90 day money back guarantee too, so I think it’s worth a try.

Arthogen Review

Arthogen is a natural supplement for dogs and cats, that treats painful arthritis symptoms. It is one of the best selling dog supplements because it works very effectively. I want to discuss the ingredients and why Arthogen is an effective supplement.

The active Ingredients per tablet in the Arthogen Plus with MSM are: Glucosamine HCI 500mg, Chondroitin Sulfate 200mg, Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 250mg, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) 20mg, Vitamin C 33mg, Manganese 5mg. Three of these ingredients; Glucosamine, Chondroitin, and MSM, are all very effective joint healing ingredients. My mom takes these ingredients in her human brand supplements and it’s helped her arthritis tremendously. Not only will these ingredients help relieve joint pain, but research shows they will help improve and even reverse some of the joint problems by actively building back and reducing inflammation at the joint structures. Glucosamine helps build up joint cartilage structure. This is possible since Glucosamine converts to the compound that constitutes most of the structure. Glucosamine and Chondroitin also help relieve pain and increase elasticity in the cartilage, making it easier to move the joints.

MSM also helps strengthen the cartilage and can help reduce the symptoms of arthritis pain. All three of these ingredients work well by themselves, but even better according to research I’ve read, when taken together. That is why I recommend you buy the Arthogen Plus with the MSM included, instead of just the regular Arthogen bottles without MSM added. Arthogen could also be helpful for problems associated with Hip displasia, a problem of the hip joints that occurs most often in many large dog breeds.

Arthogen Plus with MSM bottle sells at PetNutritionProducts.com. Another very effective joint supplement for pets you might be interested in trying at a lower price, is called Arthroionx. I have personally tried ArthroIonx on my dogs and found it very effective. They also have a moneyback guarantee for 90 days, allowing you to try the product risk free. You can read my Arthroionx review for more information.

American BioSciences DGP Review

American BioSciences DGP Review

American Biosciences DGP (Dog Gone Pain) supplement is for treating dogs with painful arthritis. It also can help maintain nervous system, gastrointestinal, skeletal and immune health. DGP can be used as a treatment or as a preventative measure from developing arthritis and other health problems.

American Biosciences DGP , contains in each tablet Shark Cartilage, which is a rich source of chondroitin sulfate and glycoaminoglycans. These substances play a structural role in joint and cartilage and have been shown in many studies to be very effective. Animals and humans have been using Chondroitin in joint supplements for years now because it works. Even my mother’s joint supplements have Chondroitin in it.

DGP also contains natural enzymes called Bromelain and Papain, which helps naturally digest protein. As dogs get older they have a tougher time digesting nutrients, especially protein. When I was on a high protein diet I used to take Bromelain to help me digest protein better and it definitely works. Bromelain also has a lot of anti-inflammatory symptoms and is used by some people just for helping arthritis problems. DGP also contains a few other anti-inflammatory herbs which can help with arthritis Feverfew, Celery Seed, Boswelia. Boswelia also works as a natural analgesic (pain reliever). They also added Corydalis Root for circulatory health and Cayenne for gastrointestinal health. Cayenne pepper also has other benefits like raising metabolism and good for circulatory health.

As you can see DGP contains all natural herbs, not only help a dog’s joint problems, but can help their overall health. You can buy American BioSciences DGP at OnlyNaturalPet.com, which is a store I recommend. There is also at least 18 reviews left by customers there on OnlyNaturalPet.com who have used DGP, most of which had very good results.

Vetri-Science Glyco-Flex Review

Vetri-Science Glyco-Flex Review

Vetri-Science Glyco-Flex is one of the top selling supplements at pet stores. Glyco-Flex is a supplement that prevents and helps treat joint problems in dogs. It comes in 3 different formulas, I, II, and III, based on the stage of the life of the dog and his current joint conditions. I have personally never used Glyco-Flex, but I have had good experiences with joint supplements on my dogs that used many of the same ingredients that are in Vetri-Science Glyco-Flex. The ingredients they use are proven to work and have been used for years in supplements treating joint problems for animals and humans.

Vetri-Science Glyco-Flex formula I contains Glucosamine, a patented ingredient called Dimethylglycine (DMG), and Perna canaliculus (Green-Lipped) Mussel. Glucosamine has been proven in many studies to help directly on joint problems. In fact Glucosamine converts in the body to the very compound that makes up joint cartilage. Formula I is designed for preventative and maintenance joint issues. Formula II packs more of a punch, it contains Glucosamine in higher dose than Formula I, but also MSM and Maganese are added. If you haven’t heard about MSM before, it helps relieve pain and plays other important roles in treating joint issues. Formula II is more advanced because it for dogs with; moderate joint dysfunction, older dogs, sporting and working breeds, as well as a follow-up to orthopedic surgery. Formula III contains Glucosamine MSM, DMG, at higher doses than Formula I and II. It also has a few other ingredients not added in Formula I and II. Formula III is for the most advanced Joint problems.

You can buy all 3 forms of Glyco-Flex at OnlyNaturalPet.com. There is also at least 15 reviews left by customers there on OnlyNaturalPet.com. As you can see most people are reporting it to work very well on their dogs. Within a few weeks you should be seeing a difference in your dog. Glucosamine, which is one of the main ingredients, has been shown to usually takes 4 to 6 weeks to fully work.

Joint Supplements for Dogs

You don’t need unsafe prescriptions or surgery to cure arthritis problems in dogs. There are safe natural supplements to cure joint problems for dogs. Dogs can suffer from arthritis just like humans. Arthritis is chronic inflammation of the joints that causes pain and damage that gets progressively worse. Another common related arthritic condition that is unique to dogs, is called hip dysplasia. This is caused by a painful separation in the back hip joints that leads to painful wear and tear on the joints and inflammation that can get worse if untreated.

Joint supplements can not only help prevent the arthritis and hip dysplasia from getting worse, but they can also help reverse some of the pre-existing problems for those with minor to moderate symptoms. The earlier you put a dog on joint supplements, the better position you are in to reverse it, just like with treating any chronic condition. There are times though the arthritis or hip dysplasia can be so advanced, that surgery is the only option because the damage to the joints is too far. You should always try natural joint supplements first, before resorting to prescriptions or surgery.

There are a few ingredients a good joint supplement for dogs should contain. Only give your dogs a joint supplement that contains at least Glucosamine. There are countless studies showing Glucosamine works. Glucosamine converts in the body to the compound that makes joint cartilage and addresses the root cause of arthritis by reducing inflammation. A good joint supplement should have more than just Glucosamine for best results. Chondroitin has been shown to work well in conjunction with Glucosamine. MSM is also added to some joint supplements. There is double blind studies and ancedotal evidence showing MSM is effective in reducing arthritis pain symptoms. MSM does not reduce inflammation or really address the root cause of arthritis it just addresses the pain. Boron is another compound shown to reduce joint pain. Vitamin C, Magnesium, and Calcium, are good general health minerals often added to joint supplements to make sure there are no deficiencies and because they play a crucial role in aiding joint health and rebuilding. There are some other ingredients with potential, but the ones mentioned above are the most commonly used ingredients in joint supplements.

There are a few makers of joint supplements for dogs, but the two brands I personally recommend are Arthro-ionx and Flexpet. I have used both on 2 different dogs I owned. I used Arthro-ionx on one I used to own that died of cancer and I gave Flexpet to a older dog I adopted from a elderly neighbor a few months ago. Both had great results in reversing arthritis and hip dysplasia, so either one seems good. Flexpet contains unique proprietary ingredient called CM8, that I haven’t seen in any other joint supplement. Both contain different ingredients, but contain solid proven joint ingredients like Glucosamine.
